The building on the street Montalbán corner Alfonso XI has a special meaning for both the Ministry of Finance as to the history of the city, and not only for its intrinsic architectural values, but because for many years, and until 1977, housed the Delegation Hacienda de Madrid.
In March 2002, a significant degree of corrosion of certain metal beams was discovered, also checked the condition of the roofs was widespread in the building and therefore the situation can be extrapolated to all risk; for that reason in April he was ordered their eviction, while being declared emergency consolidation works to be performed.
We were facing, through emergency action, a major work consisting of the integral structural reinforcement and conditioning of a representative building of more than 7,000 m2; all with the added pressure of the moment to partially return to use in the shortest possible time, because of the loss which the supposed temporary transfer to taxpayers of the area to the officials themselves.
Despite the challenges we raised and atypical circumstances in which the work was developed, the first phase finally came to fruition (it was busy in April 2003), success that at all was outside the excellent understanding between technicians of the Delegation of the Tax Agency of Madrid and the construction company MG SUCCESS. Climate of collaboration and the ongoing debate within the team, emerged many of the ideas that ultimately have resulted in a respectful but resolute intervention time on a valuable building of our architectural heritage.
